Job overview

We are excited to be offering an opportunity for two Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologists to join adult community psychological services in Mid Essex. These are full time posts but we can consider part time hours. We also welcome newly qualified applicants who can be initially appointed at a band 7 with preceptorship to 8A in due course. If you currently are a second year trainee clinical psychologist with the University of Essex or the University of Hertfordshire and you would like to apply for a third year placement with us, you can also apply for this post. If successful, the post will be offered to you upon qualification without any need to reapply. These posts come with many CPD opportunities: we are currently training staff in EMDR, MBT, Schema Therapy, DBT, CBT-p and CBT for PD through the Health Education England scheme. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to take up further training in a specialist evidence-based model.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to contribute to multi-disciplinary treatment planning, form the premises of respectful and collegial relationships with members of various disciplines and to rise to the challenges posed by working in large teams and across teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work within supportive MDTs and highly experienced clinical/counselling psychologists and psychotherapists. We are looking for someone competent and experienced in delivering psychological assessments and interventions within the context of the NHS. Experience of offering consultations and developing clinical formulations that meet the needs of clients with personality disorders, psychoses, and other complex presentations is essential. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience with clients who experience severe emotional disturbance, often with a history of trauma and multiple morbidities. One of the two posts has a key role in the Access and Assessment Service, based at the Linden Centre, in Chelmsford. The successful candidate will spend 4 sessions (2 days) with the Access and Assessment team where they will offer consultation, attend the weekly multi agency referral meeting and carry out clients reviews jointly with other disciplines. One essential part of this role will be to form links and liaise with the providers of Step 4 services in our area.
