Job Details

BCHFT is a relatively new organisation, formed in April 2020 from two legacy Trusts (BCPFT and DWMHT). It means that there are plenty of excellent opportunities for creativity and growth, as we expand and develop our services.

Our Mental Health Division is a collection of varied services including planned care, urgent care, IAPT, perinatal services, Physical Health Psychology and Early Intervention. Psychologists plays a key role in these services. We’re making the psychological wellbeing of our patients and staff a priority – and these roles sit at the heart of that delivery.

Inpatient Posts

  • Hallam Street Hospital (West Bromwich) – 1.8 WTE Applied Senior Psychologist – Band 8a
  • Penn Hospital (Wolverhampton) – 1.0 WTE Applied Senior Psychologist – Band 8a
  • Dorothy Pattison Hospital (Walsall) – 1.2 WTE Applied Senior Psychologist – Band 8a
  • Bushey Fields Hospital (Dudley) – 0.6 WTE Senior Psychologist - Band 8a

Crisis/Home Treatment Team Post:

  • Dudley Crisis Home Treatment Team – 1.0 WTE Senior Psychologist – Band 8a

We are flexible how we recruit to the Psychology roles and would welcome applications from applicants wanting full time or part time employment. If you would like to discuss your options and/or working hours/patterns, then please do get in touch.

Multi-disciplinary working really is the norm here – and it’s our aim to embed psychological mindedness across our inpatient services. There are currently several positions available – due to promotion or retirement – and they all offer exceptional opportunities for development and progression.

As part of our urgent care subspecialty within open inpatient units and within our crisis services, these roles play an essential part in providing psychological assessment, formulation and, where possible, brief interventions with clients. You’ll help us to develop core services, build on our strategic work and contribute to an EMDR pilot. What’s more, you’ll support our team – looking after their wellbeing and psychological safety, through regular reflective practice, division-wide debriefing initiatives and compassionate working relationships.

We’re looking for qualified psychologists with a post-graduate doctoral level qualification in applied psychology (or its equivalent) accredited by the BPS, and HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist.  You’ll need to share our commitment to patient and staff wellbeing, be a real team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, and have an excellent understanding of a wide variety of client presentations. You should also have experience of clinical supervision of doctoral trainees.

If you are a newly qualified psychologist (or about to qualify) and you have some previous experience of inpatient or crisis work we would also welcome your application.
