Job Details
(IPS) is an executive agency of the Department of Justice and is responsible for the provision of safe, secure and humane custody for those people committed to prison by the Courts. It employs some 3,200 uniformed and civilian staff. Currently, the nationwide estate is made up of 12 prisons and a number of other ancillary offices and facilities. Typically, the IPS manages approximately 4,000 people in custody at any one time, both male and female, aged 18 and over.
The IPS Psychology Service is a national psychological service. Psychologists work as part of broad multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) within all prisons across the country. The Service holds the principle of equivalence of care as its foundation. Its integrated model of care is bio-psycho-social, strengths-based and recovery focused. Services are organised through a layered care model. The Service prides itself on thorough, individualised, evidence-based assessment and intervention with clients, and has excellent opportunities for staff Continual Professional Development.
The Irish Prison Service is now recruiting for the following posts:
- Clinical or Counselling Psychologists (Grade II)
- Senior Psychologist (Grade I) at the National Violence Reduction Unit (NVRU), Midlands Prison
- Senior Psychologist (Grade I) with responsibility for Sexual Violence Programmes
