Be amazing, be inspired, be you.

Our young people deserve the best possible future and we feel the same about our staff. You deserve to have the career you want, in an environment that allows you to be yourself. As a member of our team, you’ll receive a sector-leading salary, extensive benefits and quality training, supervision and support.

If you want to join the UK’s leading provider of specialist education and care, working passionately to bring the best possible outcomes for young people, you’re in the right place.

Be the Assistant Psychologist, be the guide.

Are you a degree-qualified Psychologist? Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in order to advance to professional psychology training? Then join an organisation that’s dedicated to changing young lives for the better?

At Witherslack Group’s outstanding schools and homes, we’re dedicated to helping children and young people with complex, challenging needs. We offer expert care and first-rate facilities, all designed to support and speed the development of young lives. As an Assistant Psychologist, you’ll make a huge difference, playing a big part in creating more positive outcomes through this highly rewarding role. And there’s plenty of positives for you too - we’ll help you develop your abilities with training and opportunities to support your ambitions of becoming an Educational or Clinical Psychologist.

Our learning centre caters for up to 15 young people between the ages of 9 and 18 years. It offers a highly personalised and structured curriculum for all pupils, allowing them to equip themselves with the skills and practical experience they need for life beyond school and into their chosen career. Our integrated Therapeutic Provisions offer a complete package of residential care and on-site learning. There are strong links between the learning centre and children’s home to ensure that the young people are closely supported throughout their school day and home life and to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved.

The Role

Based within our specialist classes you will support our children and young people to develop a ‘felt’ sense of safety, engage in relationships and ultimately achieve inspirational outcomes. You will  contribute to the provision of psychological support and undertake assessments under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist. As part of the embedded MDT you will be involved in developing and implementing differentiated learning, communication & social and personal development strategies.

Working as part of the team around the child that enable positive outcomes, you’ll liaise with parents, carers, colleagues and partner agencies to meet the needs of the children and young people. Some may exhibit very challenging behaviour, so both a resilient and empathetic approach will be key.

Be the Assistant Psychologist you always wanted to be

With a degree (or equivalent) in Psychology, you’ll be eligible for graduate BPS membership. Your degree should include components relating to neuro-diverse young people with SEN.

Crucially, you share the Witherslack ethos of offering the very highest standards of care to deliver the best outcomes for young people in all our homes and schools.

A degree of flexibility is required, between 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday (37 hours a week).

Be Rewarded

  • We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we want to reward you with a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector.
  • You’ll receive
  • A competitive salary,
  • Pension Scheme matched up to 5% or a range of flexible pension options to suit personal circumstances (where applicable)
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training
  • Extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme.

Witherslack Group conducts DBS Enhanced checks and covers the costs for all new employees.
