Job Details

HMP Grendon is unique, as the only prison operating entirely as a therapeutic community. It offers interesting and varied opportunities for clinical practice and development. As a therapeutic community all interactions are seen as part of the therapy, not only those which occur in a group room and it is seen as a living, learning experience where the residents are given additional responsibility and opportunities.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team at HMP Grendon involves assessing and delivering therapeutic interventions to complex prisoners in long term, high intensity treatment. It includes contributing to the assessment and monitoring of treatment targets and writing reports, including case formulations and progress reports. This offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful and rewarding work, where you contribute to the reduction of risk of harm and reoffending as well as increasing the wellbeing of the residents in a positive environment.

It provides the opportunity to design and deliver training in a range of areas on a regular basis, as well as providing supervision to the multidisciplinary staff team. Unusually, there is also scope to conduct research, with a range of opportunities available.

We are looking to recruit qualified, HCPC registered psychologists. Trainee psychologists who expect to be HCPC registered within 6 months of the formal job offer will be considered.
