Working at the University of Surrey | University of Surrey

Would you like to develop your academic career; contributing to teaching on the Advanced Practice in Psychological Wellbeing programme at the University of Surrey?  This position would provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to continue their clinical work whilst also helping to develop the knowledge and skills of trainee IAPT psychological wellbeing practitioners.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of lectures and more generally supporting the trainees in their development.  Other responsibilities will include being a professional tutor for a number of trainees, trainee recruitment, service liaison and mid-way review visits. These activities could be across venues in Sussex, Surrey and Kent (with some potential for remote working) on Wednesdays and Thursdays. For the right applicant there could be more leadership opportunities.

The ideal candidate will need to be a clinical or counselling psychologist, a high intensity therapist or an experienced psychological wellbeing practitioner (ideally with supervision experience). They should ideally also have experience of working in IAPT. The successful candidate will demonstrate themselves to be an empathic, motivated, creative and energetic individual who is able to act on their own initiative.  We would particularly welcome applications from individuals who identify as being from marginalised groups. This is because we committed to representing the communities that we serve. You would be joining a team of dedicated and supportive individuals who aim to provide a vibrant, compassionate and enjoyable learning experience.

Our benefits package includes generous annual leave, and childcare assistance. We also offer an exclusive discounted membership package to all our staff for the Surrey Sport Park. Additionally, you will benefit from collegiate support, University resources and partnership working with regional practitioners.

The programme Is based within the School of Psychology, within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (FHMS).  The Faculty is a leading provider of undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare education, research and consultancy.  It has extensive links with local health care providers and is based in a modern, purpose built, state-of-the-art teaching facility on the University of Surrey campus in Guildford.  The campus provides a pleasant working environment with close links to road and rail transport. Please note that some teaching takes place at a Kent venue.
