Are you a Psychologist  looking for your next challenge? Whether you're experienced or newly qualified - we want to hear from you!

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, awarded Mental Health Trust of the Year 2021, are currently looking for Psychologists on a permanent basis – full time and part time hours available. We offer a wealth of opportunities across our Trust and we’re keen to invest in colleagues’ developments and careers.

We have posts available across Somerset including:

  • Inpatient wards
  • Perinatal Services
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Adult Community Mental Health Teams
  • CAMHS Community Teams
  • Older Persons Mental Health
  • Neurological Services

This is an exciting time to join us, as we've officially merged with Yeovil District Hospital, making us one of the largest UK NHS providers in the UK, and now cover acute, community and mental health services.  Somerset NHS Foundation Trust was one of the leading Trusts in the Transformation of Mental Health Services initiative and our psychologists benefit from more closely established links with other healthcare professionals.

We have roles available starting at a Band 6 (£35,392 - £42,618) up to 8b (£58,972 - £68,525).

Our main sites are based in Taunton, Bridgwater, Yeovil and Wells.

What can we offer you?

  • Excellent annual leave entitlement starting at 27 days, rising to 29 after 5 years service and 33 after 10 years service
  • Fantastic development opportunities available to move into leadership roles and conduct research
  • Competitive relocation package if you're looking to make the move to Somerset (to be discussed - Ts and Cs apply)

As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, continuing professional development and regular informal conversations around career progression, annual recognition awards to celebrate and recognise our colleagues achievements throughout the year and not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.

We work hard to make sure that inclusion is part of everything we do. We know that true inclusion means we’re able to provide the best care for our patients and provide a fulfilling career for all our colleagues.

The benefits of working in Somerset include the idyllic countryside, with our areas of outstanding beauty and stunning coastlines. You will get to enjoy these perks whilst still only being a stone’s throw away from bustling city centres like Bristol, Bath and Exeter and only two hours away from London – there is truly something for everyone!

There are excellent educational facilities in the area and, when compared to other regions, house prices are reasonable.

We have six active and impactful colleague networks. These networks provide a safe space for colleagues to share their experiences and learn from one another, but also influence change across our trust:

  • Multicultural Network
  • Women’s Network
  • Armed Forces’ Network
  • LGBTQ+ Network
  • Lived Experience Network, for colleagues living with disabilities
  • Autistic Colleague Network

Apply now or contact us for an informal discussion.
