Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services

CAMHS Clinical Psychologist

Location: Rowan Centre, Moray, North East Scotland

Salary: £67,285 - £71,978 per annum

Contract: Permanent – Full Time (part time will be considered)

NHS Grampian Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is looking to continue to grow and develop our workforce; alongside wider exciting ongoing service evolution.

This post is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Psychologist to contribute to both generic CAMHS and the development of a variety of new workst2reams.

Our CAMHS team is an inclusive, values based multi-disciplinary team including Clinical and Applied Psychology, Psychotherapy, Clinicians, Allied Health Professionals, Nursing, Psychiatry, Admin, Business and Support staff.  Our team ethos promotes patient-centred care, efficiency, and a culture that values, enables and develops our staff.

We are looking for warm, reflective, innovative individuals who want to make a difference to join us working with children, young people, their families, and wider systems. We are seeking individuals that share values that are important to us – being respectful, kind, curious, collaborative, efficient, forward thinking and trauma informed – and those that embody these values in their day-to-day work.

We have undergone a service redesign which has formed an across the age range (0-18) service across the Grampian region, with geographically based teams (City, Shire and Moray) and a specialist CAMHS Hub.  There are excellent opportunities for a wide range of clinical experience within CAMHS (1:1 work, family work, group work, specialist workstreams and consultation), in early intervention, contributing to departmental research/audit, taking part in local and national teaching / training; and being part of a dynamic service undergoing new developments at a challenging time nationally.  Our treatment approaches are eclectic with multiple psychological modalities offered by different team members including schema focussed work, CBT, IPT, Systemic Family Therapy, FBT, ACT, EMDR, psychotherapy, play therapy and pharmacotherapy.

This post will be based in the team based at the Rowan Centre in Moray.

We are part of the North of Scotland regional CAMHS Tier 4 network and alongside out-patient work, we work closely alongside the regional Dudhope Young People’s In-patient Unit.  We are a test of change / roll out site for several innovative national projects.  As well as having strong regional and national links, CAMHS works collaboratively with our local partner agencies across Grampian to continue to develop and foster local Tier 1 and 2 community mental health and wellbeing supports for children, young people, and their families.

Tailored and supportive line management alongside one to one, peer group and multi-disciplinary supervision structures are in place to support professional reflection and growth.  There is an established dynamic monthly CPD programme and a local CAMHS training group driving forward staff and team development.  We host D.Clin.Psych and CYP MSC trainees.

Extensive experience of working as a Clinical Psychologist in CAMHS is essential.  Experience of working collaboratively with other professional groups and partner agencies is desirable, and evidence of involvement in service development, published research and service audit will be an advantage.

Experience of supervising other Psychology colleagues and enabling colleague’s growth and development is also considered essential.

Grampian, located in the North East of Scotland, has a population of over half a million. The scenery across the North East is enchanting and inspiring, from beautiful coasts to the Cairngorm Mountain range. The area offers both rural and urban based leisure, cultural and sporting activities to suit a range of interests. There is easy access to airports in both Aberdeen and Inverness.  Grampian is a major centre of Education with two Universities, Aberdeen, and Robert Gordon’s.

A generous relocation package of up to £8,000 may be available.
