Job Details

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join the team at our Glasgow centre.

As an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist (or eligible for registration), you will have experience working with adults with psychological problems related to general health conditions.

You will also have competency in more than one therapeutic modality evidence-based as effective for people affected by cancer.

You will be enthusiastic about working directly with people affected by cancer within an innovative programme of supportive care that integrates contributions from a range of professional disciplines.

You will have previous experience and be confident taking full clinical or counselling responsibility for evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment.

Your responsibilities

  • Oversee the provision of a high-quality, evidence-based and specialist programme of psychological assessment and support for people dealing with cancer.
  • Contribute your professional expertise to Maggie’s multi-disciplinary team and integrated programme of cancer support for people living with the impact of cancer, aligned with the Clinical and Counselling Psychology Role Expectation Guidelines.
  • Facilitate support groups, networking groups, workshops, courses and lectures, and enable people affected by cancer to access all appropriate elements of Maggie’s programme of support.
  • Support the continuing development of psychosocial support within Maggie’s programme, providing teaching input within the local community about Maggie’s model of psychosocial support and the programme's theoretical and cultural underpinnings.
  • Record data concerning your work in line with Maggie’s policies and procedures, participate in the ongoing programme and practise evaluation concerning both your work and that of programme activity within the centre. 
  • In collaboration with the Centre Head, you will be responsible for quality assurance and programme evaluation in line with Maggie’s quality assurance, research and evaluation policies.
