Psychologist roles: National starting salary up to £35,175 (London starting salary up to £40,213). Salary includes a market allowance.

Higher Psychologist roles: National starting salary up to £42,707 (London starting salary up to £47,745). Salary includes a market allowance.

It’s an exciting time to work for the College of Policing’s Occupational Psychology Community where there are lots of opportunities for psychologists who are early into their careers, as well as roles for those who already have experience. Working in our Occupational Psychology Community means you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in projects which impact policing nationally, helping to shape the future of the police service. You’ll join an experienced team of occupational psychologists who design and deliver assessment centres, exams and development centres ensuring they are fair and support professionalism in policing. You will also gain experience in designing and implementing assessment products across all stages of the consultancy cycle in line with the BPS standards for design and delivery of Assessment Centres.

Available roles:

We have several Psychologist roles available which are ideal for individuals early into their career as an occupational psychology practitioner. As a Psychologist, you’ll be undertaking activities which will directly contribute to national transformation of police leadership. This will include designing and delivering assessment and development products for the police service, ensuring they are fair and fit for purpose. For this role, prior experience is beneficial but not essential meaning these roles are great for those looking to start their career in occupational psychology. You must have a degree in Psychology and a MSc in Occupational Psychology, or equivalent, recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and meeting Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership. Candidates nearing the end of a MSc qualification will be considered on condition that the qualification is achieved on appointment.

We also have a number of Higher Psychologist roles available which are ideal for individuals who already have experience of applying occupational psychology in practice. As a Higher Psychologist, you’ll be involved in managing projects which directly contribute to the national transformation of police leadership. This will include supervising the design and delivery of occupational psychology products such as development and assessment centres, development of colleagues and management of large-scale projects. For this role, experience of applying occupational psychology theory into practice, as part of a large-scale project, is expected. You must have a degree in Psychology and a MSc in Occupational Psychology, or equivalent, recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and meeting Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership.

These Psychologist and Higher Psychologist roles are open to office-based, hybrid and homeworking arrangements.
