BAND 8B PRACTITIONER PSYCHOLOGIST POST IN THE AUTISM SERVICE

BHSCT is the largest integrated Health & Social Care trust within NI. It delivers integrated health and social care to a population of approximately 340,000 citizens in Belfast and provides the majority of regional specialist services to all of Northern Ireland. It has an annual budget of £1.3 billion and a workforce of over 20,000 staff.

This breadth of remit is reflected in the Psychological Services Division that employs over 150 staff and provides services across a large number of areas, including Adult mental health, Learning Disability, Older Adults, Physical Health Conditions, LAC, Paediatrics, Neuropsychology and Autism.

The post holder will provide a lead role in the delivery of specialist assessment, consultation and therapeutic support across our dynamic multidisciplinary teams, comprising Psychology, Speech & Language, Occupational Therapy, Social Work,Nursing, and Child Development.

We welcome applications from registered health professionals with experience in ASD diagnosis and treatment with adults and/or children. The successful candidate will appreciate the need for continuous service improvement, innovative practice, flexibility, good communication, team cohesion and continuous professional development.

It is expected that the successful candidate will work across both child and adult services and depending on experience and the service needs, training will be provided in order to support individuals with ASD across the lifespan. The Psychological Services Division has a strong ethos of investing in staff ongoing training and facilitating involvement in research and quality improvement initiatives.

There is an increasing emphasis on an Outcomes Based Approach to service delivery and opportunities for projects in these areas, with an emphasis on a Quality Improvement Framework.

A Research Centre is in process of launch and the Service is keen to support and encourage clinical research in collaboration with MDT colleagues and Universities.

The Division has significant input into staff wellbeing issues across the trust and has a high emphasis in ensuring wellbeing in the Psychological workforce, including provision of individual supervision, use of reflective practice within services and consideration of work-life balance needs.
