An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the CQC Outstanding rated Portsmouth Integrated Learning Disability Service (ILDS) for an experienced Principal Clincial Psychologist.

The post-holder will work alongside the senior management and clinical staff in the service to deliver high quality psychological care to people across the city, leading an enthusiastic team that comprises of a Principal Psychologist (this post), a Clinical Psychologist and an Assistant Psychologist, as well as working closely with other members of the MDT. There is also the opportunity to clinically supervise other professionals in the team including the Behaviour Analyst.

The ILDS psychology service works in conjunction with the child and adolescent learning disability service (CAMHS-LD) and as such the post holder will be at the forefront of the development of this and have oversight of the work of Psychology staff delivering care in this service. They will work to improve and implement care provision for adults and children with learning disabilities working across our ILDS and our CAMHS service. This allows for timely intervention at the point of transition for young people and their families,. considering assessment, intervention/therapeutic support to improve transition and to meet the individual needs of the service users.

All involvement is on an individual basis, involving family/carers, support staff, liaising with others involved in their lives, as appropriate.  Referral pathways are clearly defined and there is a high level of case holding and coordination provided by the wider team which facilitates timely psychological input as required by people. As such the service is very person-centred and responsive to the needs of individuals.

The post holder will be joining a well-established multi-disciplinary team and will be part of the senior leadership team within the service. The service includes Community Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Social workers & Psychiatrists.

The Annual NHS staff survey demonstrated that we continue to have high rates of staff satisfaction & support and the National Benchmarking Data show that the ILDS continue to provide an effective and efficient service.

We can also offer a relocation package as well as a CPD package and happy to discuss these further.
