Contract Type: Fixed Term (10 months)

Full Time – 37.5 hours per week

Applications are sought for a Behavioural Science Team Leader post. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the behavioural science team in the COVID-19 response.

The post will be fixed term for 10 months  and the successful applicant will be based working from home. The posts will be based nationally, with the post holders working from home primarily in the first instance.

The role will form part of the new COVID response arrangements, to provide a 24/7 responsive behavioural science and insights capability, providing expert advice and input into both the local and national COVID-19 response. Specifically, this Behavioural Science Team Leader role will support both the Principal Behavioural Scientists and Head of Behavioural Science by managing a small operational team providing robust, rapid, expert advice and guidance to both local and national stakeholders on all matters relating to behavioural science within the COVID-19 response. This team will also be rapidly deployable to local areas of interest (e.g., local lockdown areas etc.) to provide on-the-ground support to the local response. This role will therefore require expertise in the behavioural and social sciences, line management experience and will require the postholder to work as part of an integrated team with multidisciplinary stakeholders. This post may require security clearance.

The post will suit a PhD qualified (or MSc and substantial related experience) behavioural scientist or psychologist with research experience in public health, health protection, emergency preparedness and response, behavioural analysis and intervention design, or a related applied field. You will be a team player with a strong academic background in the behavioural and/ or social sciences, will have experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, and will have experience of report writing, academic publication, and providing presentations and briefings to stakeholders.
