Hillside Secure Children’s Home provides a high quality of care and education for up to 22 young people, aged 12-17 years, within three secure living houses.

We take an eclectic therapeutic approach through direct work supported by a Clinical Team and specialist providers.  We provide a comprehensive range of education, vocational and recreational learning opportunities to enable an effective response to the identified needs of young people.

Child Psychologist - Permanent

37 Hours per week

Salary: £44,863 - £46,854 per annum (SCP 41 to SCP 43) Plus £10,000 market supplement per annum

This vacancy has an age restriction of 21 years and above in line with the Welsh Government’s National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes, Section 20.

A vacancy exists for a Child Psychologist to plan and co-ordinate the systematic provision of a highly specialist clinical psychology service for Hillside Secure Children’s Home.

The post holder will lead in the development of a psychologically sensitive approach to the care and management of young people.

The post holder will organise and supervise the work for the Assistant Psychologists in the home.

The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions to the young people and offer advice and consultation to other professionals and carers in the home.

An upper second class Honours Degree or higher in Psychology is essential together with a Post Graduate Doctorate in Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).

You will also need to be eligible for Graduate Membership of the BPS.
