POSTChildren’s Psychologist & Service Manager

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Clinical Director

HOURS: Full Time

PAY: Band 8a

PLACE OF WORK: Between locations in Warwickshire & Northamptonshire



Under the management of the Clinical Director to:

  1. Manage the ASSIST Children’s service in the Midlands area
  2. Co-ordinate the Northamptonshire Children’s and Young People’s Service
  3. To provide one to one specialist trauma therapy to adults and children in the Midlands area
  4. As part of the ASSIST team to provide input to data analysis, service evaluation and ongoing research projects
  5. As part of the ASSIST team to provide input to further service development


ASSIST is a member of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.  All ASSIST specialist therapists are expected to work according to evidence based practice models (currently trauma-focused C.B.T. and E.M.D.R.), and in accordance with ethical practice.


Key Tasks

  1. To manage the ASSIST Children’s Service in the local area and co-ordinate the Northamptonshire Children’s and Young People’s Service.
  2. To provide management supervision to therapists and youth workers and Volunteer Co-ordinator employed as part of the Northamptonshire Children’s and Young Peoples Service.
  3. In partnership with the ASSIST Clinical Director to develop the Northamptonshire CYP service, and to make presentations to other professionals in this respect.
  4. To attend management and external meetings as required in relation to ongoing service delivery and further service development.
  5. To provide specialist trauma therapy to ASSIST clients (adults and children), as directed by the ASSIST Clinical Director, in the client’s home or other identified suitable premises in the Midlands area.
  6. Ability and willingness to travel to see clients as required.



  1. To provide information on service provision and trauma/Traumatic Bereavement/Post Traumatic Stress related issues.
  2. To deliver client services directly, and to receive appropriate clinical supervision as agreed and arranged with the ASSIST Clinical Director.  External supervision will be

with a supervisor from the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre and additionally with a Children’s Therapy Supervisor as arranged.

  1. To provide information on service provision and trauma/Traumatic Bereavement/Post Traumatic Stress related issues.
  2. To make notes of each client session, including reasons for cancellations and non-attendance and to provide copies of notes to the ASSIST office on a monthly basis.
  3. To maintain client confidentiality and respect at all times.
  4. To maintain all records in line with the Data Protection Act.
  5. To be aware of and to adhere to current safeguarding legislation.
  6. To be non-judgemental in approach to all of the work.
  7. To adhere to all ASSIST’s policies and procedures and to promote the values, spirit and ethos of the organisation at all times.
  8. To be a positive and contributing member of the ASSIST team and to attend team meetings and training events as arranged.
  9. To collect and maintain statistical performance and outcome data as required.
