The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) is seeking an experienced practitioner psychologist, psychotherapist or counselor to provide clinical leadership to the Inquiry’s in-house support team.
IICSA is one of the most important and high-profile public inquiries ever established. Our role is to identify, understand and learn from the institutional failings that allowed child sexual abuse to happen in the past, and to make robust recommendations to prevent that abuse from happening in the future. Our in-house support team that you will lead offers emotional support to people engaged in our investigations, including those giving evidence at our Public Hearings.
Under your leadership, you will ensure a quality, trauma-informed service, overseeing and managing risk and overseeing the provision of support at Inquiry Public Hearings, including being the senior clinician on duty at the Public Hearings.
In addition to leading the in-house support team, you will provide clinical consultancy and design appropriate models of support for members of the public, including victims and survivors, as they engage with the Inquiry. The role is mainly consultative with little direct client contact. You will also be part of the support and safeguarding team’s senior leadership group and will report to the Head of Support and Safeguarding.
We are looking for a HCPC qualified practitioner or someone registered with a professional body such as the UKCP or BACP. Experience in providing psychological therapies to adult victims and survivors to facilitate their recovery from child sexual abuse is essential as is experience in providing clinical consultation to non-healthcare staff.
With the Inquiry being a time-limited project, the role is offered on a fixed term contract basis (21 months), or loan/secondment for existing civil servants.
