Job Description

A great opportunity has opened up for a clinical manager position, working as part of the in-house mental health team of an award-winning veterans’ charity.  Based in Portsmouth, with satellite clinics in Gosport, Ryde and Newport (IOW), Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) is looking for a dynamic, committed, team-player to manage its small clinical team and provide high-quality mental health services for our service users.

About the charity:

Set up in 2008, Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) offers a wide range of support, including mental health therapies and substance misuse support to Armed Forces veterans (both regular and reservist), former members of the merchant marine, and spouses/partners.  Based in the Royal Maritime Club (RMC) Portsmouth, VOS runs two Drop-Ins every month – one in Portsmouth and one in Newport (IOW) - as well as other welfare and wellbeing activities. VOS is well-known in the service charity community and was the recipient of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2017.

The Role: 

You will manage and develop the clinical team, delivering a range of therapeutic services for VOS beneficiaries. You will be providing a range of clinical services and will have management responsibilities, including managing the budget and resource allocation, as well as liaising with other members of the VOS team and outside organisations and agencies. About You:

The successful candidate will have experience as a clinical practitioner and as a manager within a mental health service, holding appropriate registrations with a governing body such as HCPC and will be accredited in at least two therapeutic modalities which are on the NICE approved list for disorders such as PTSD (eg TFCT, CBT, CPT, EMDR). It is preferable if they have experience of working with veterans or the serving military community and their families and have an understanding of the issues relevant to this client group.  Committed, adaptable and flexible, they will be a confident leader, good at team working and experienced in clinical supervision including group supervision.
