Clinical or Forensic Psychologist in Male Adult Mental Health - Low Secure

Salary - £41,000 - £48,000 plus package and benefits

Location - Essex / North Benfleet

Hours - Full Time / 37.5 hours a week

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Clinical or Forensic Psychologist with an interest in working with adults with mental health disorders to join our Low Secure Men’s service at our Essex site.  Ideally we are looking for an established and qualified psychologist but due to the site having a great support function the role could also consider a newly qualified psychologist looking for their first role at this level. You will have excellent development opportunities including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Behavioural Family Therapy as our Essex site offers these modalities of therapy to our service users.

You can achieve more at St Andrew’s Healthcare

A top 20 UK charity, St Andrew’s is a unique provider of specialist care in mental health and learning disability. We aspire to deliver truly world class, holistic services within our outstanding, modern facilities. Our independence means we can always put patients’ interests at the heart of decision making, while re-investing surpluses in frontline services.  We are currently transforming the Charity and have introduced Integrated Practice Units (IPUs) as the vehicle to deliver ‘Value Based Healthcare’.  This will ensure our patients consistently get the best possible outcomes and local teams gain more control and responsibility.

The role and person

You will be an HCPC registered Clinical or Forensic Psychologist (eligible for BPS Chartership) looking for an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in the exiting practice of clinical or forensic psychology. Experience as a DBT therapist will be an advantage.

Our goal is to deliver effective and evidenced based interventions that improve mental health and reduce risk. You will have the opportunity to apply specialist psychological skills in the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults with complex mental disorders (predominantly psychosis, but with other co-morbid conditions) in combination with the application of forensic models to treat and manage risk.

As a ward psychologist you will apply skills and expertise in clinical and risk assessments, collaboratively develop formulations; plan, sequence and deliver group or individual psychological interventions and consult to the MDT to enable our service users to improve their mental health, manage their risks and progress to greater independence. You will have the provision of an assistant psychologist to support you in your role. You will be part of a team of over twenty psychologists, assistant psychologists and psychological therapists based in Essex, Northampton and Birmingham delivering psychological interventions for a diverse patient group at St. Andrew's.

As a clinician you will be supported to develop specialist skills in clinical areas of your interest and contribute to the development and training within the psychology team and greater service. St. Andrews has an excellent record of providing opportunities for research, training and continuing professional development.
