Every child and young person deserves a good start in life. But for some children, these formative years aren’t going as well as we’d hope – and that’s where Children’s Social Care comes in. We’re there to try and get things back on track for children, young people and their parents and we have opportunities for suitably qualified mental health staff with skills in working with both adults and children to be a key part of this crucial work.
We are looking for people who are committed to working collaboratively with children, young people, their families, and with social work colleagues, to manage risk and improve outcomes for children, young people, and their families. We currently have two posts available in our Assessment and Intervention and Safeguarding services. Both posts include provision of consultation and training, as well as direct assessment and treatment work with both children and adults, and both will include a substantial outreach community-based component. Analysing complex clinical data, you will monitor the effectiveness of interventions offered, and reports you produce will be used to assist with making the right decisions for children in care proceedings.
You will be working as part of a large friendly clinical team. The service is led by a consultant clinical psychologist, with a senior team of systemic psychotherapists, clinical and forensic psychologists, with good links with the clinical teams in our local NHS Trust (South London & Maudsley).
These roles have the scope to transform the lives of every child, adolescent, parent and carer you come into contact with. You will therefore need to have a solid grasp of a range of interventions and a proven record of creating change for children and families. We are particularly keen to meet applicants with skills in working with adults as well as with children, and who have skills in psychometric assessments. The posts are suitable for qualified systemic therapists, clinical psychologists or those with equivalent qualifications [We are also able to consider applications from people in their final year of relevant courses on a preceptorship basis where you will take up your substantive clinical post once qualified and registered - please call us to discuss this option if relevant prior to applying.
We can offer you quality clinical supervision, resources, training and support to do the job well. Our approach engenders a shared sense of accountability, reflective space and support.
A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level is required.
For further information and to arrange an informal discussion, please contact either Derek Nasseri, Senior Clinician and Family Systemic Psychotherapist, A&I – email@example.com/0207 525 3290 or Jenny Taylor, Head of Clinical Service and Consultant Clinical Psychologist – firstname.lastname@example.org/ 0207 525 2673.
Closing date: 30th June 2019.
Interviews date: 11th and 16th July 2019.
