About Southwark:

Southwark Council is an exciting place to work as we transform the way we work to reflect our drive for excellence We recognise that having the right people, with the right experience and skills, in the right jobs, is at the heart of our organisation. Without this we cannot deliver. We believe that everyone in the team is a valued member and, we will give you responsibility and the opportunity to make a difference from the beginning.

The Role:

Every child and young person deserves a good start in life. But for some children, these formative years aren’t going as well as we’d hope – and that’s where Children’s Social Care comes in. We’re there to try and get things back on track for children, young people and their parents and we have opportunities for suitably qualified mental health staff to be a key part of this crucial work.

You will be joining a team of clinical practitioners from a range of backgrounds working across Children’s Social Care & Youth Offending Services. These roles have the scope to transform the lives of every child, adolescent, parent and carer you come into contact with. You will therefore need to have a solid grasp of a range of interventions and a proven record of working systemically to create change for children and families. We are particularly keen to meet applicants with skills in working with adults as well as with children, and who have skills in psychometric assessments and positive behaviour support approaches.

We’re looking for a registered Practitioner Psychologist to focus on working with our 0-25 year old social work team for children and young people with disabilities, helping to improve quality of life for the young people and their families, and helping to reduce the need for out-of-home placements. You will be working both via and alongside your social work colleagues as well as working directly with children, young people, and their families and carers.
