We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist experienced in Older Persons Mental Health to join the team in Hutt Valley, a 20 minute drive from Wellington.
This is a diverse role which is part of the Community Health Service and provides specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for people with a recent onset, functional mental illness over the age of 65 as well as people with complex physical and mental needs. Hutt Valley DHB serves a mainly urban population of around 140,000.

For this Role experience with Older Persons mental health in a community based service is essential. You will be required to deliver assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services to people over the age of 65 who may have significant behavioural and psychological symptoms (BPSD), complex physical and mental health needs or dementia. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team is crucial for the co-management of individuals across services. The focus is on providing evidenced based interventions in response to complex presenting needs and the provision of the least restrictive intervention. Sound knowledge of psychopathology, and psychological theories is essential with Neuropsychology experience being an advantage. The service also incorporates access to 6 inpatient beds on an Older Persons and Rehabilitation ward.
