Job Description

Clinical Psychologist Band 8a, 1 wte permanent

The Tower Hamlets Autism Service (THAS) is a specialist diagnostic and brief intervention service for adults on the autistic spectrum, established in 2014. The service is multidisciplinary with a team comprising of speech and language, occupational therapy, social work, clinical psychology and psychiatry practitioners. It also has an important employment arm through a co-commissioned local third sector provider. The service aims to develop the provision and accessibility of support in Tower Hamlets in order to make it an autism friendly borough. Following a recent review by Commissioners the remit and staffing establishment of the service has been expanded.

We are looking for a full time 8a band clinical psychologist to join the existing team and other new staff. The service currently provides diagnostic and post diagnostic input including specialist assessments, brief interventions, psychoeducation, employment services and consultation to partner services and organisations. In addition services will now be provided for individuals with an existing diagnosis and as well as case management for clients during periods of significant life transition. The psychology role requires networking and close collaborative working with a range of community and voluntary agencies as well as with both primary and secondary mental health services.

This is an exciting career opportunity to join an expanding service for a dedicated applicant with existing direct experience or for those with relevant experience who may wish to specialise in this developing field. Therefore applications from band 7 practitioners would also be welcome. The successful applicant will receive training where required in the application of specialist ASC diagnostic tools in addition to the ELFT psychological therapies CPD programme and would receive clinical supervision and professional support within the ELFT psychology department.
