Take on a new challenge at the forefront of specialist rehabilitation and mental health care

St Andrew’s is the UK’s largest mental health charity and a unique provider of specialist care in mental health, learning disability and neurodisability. We aspire to deliver truly world class, holistic services within our outstanding, modern facilities. Our independence means we can always put patients’ interests at the heart of decision making, while re-investing surpluses in frontline services. We are currently transforming the Charity to deliver ‘Value Based Healthcare’. This will ensure our patients consistently get the best possible outcomes and local teams gain more control and responsibility.

Our Neuropsychiatry Division offers specialist services for patients with acquired brain injury and progressive neurological conditions. The care and rehabilitation offered is recognised for being at the forefront of innovative service development, for its excellence in service delivery, and for its ability to manage and reduce the risks associated with brain injury or progressive neurological conditions.

Benefits of this role and service:

  • Opportunity to develop specialist clinical neuropsychology skills with support potentially available for training to enable you to join the BPS Specialist Register.
  • Support for innovative ideas and working in order to achieve better patient outcomes.
  • Opportunities and support to develop into Principal and Consultant level roles in the future.
  • Undertake additional paid assignments such as individual therapies, assessments, etc. with our Community Partnerships Team.
  • Opportunity to support patients from admission through to community living all in one service on the same site.

The role

We seek a HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist to work within the Neuropsychiatry Division. This position will particularly meet the needs of newly qualified Clinical Psychologists who wish to gain experience in a range of neurological disorders, including neurobehavioural rehabilitation following acquired brain injury with patients living with complex co-morbidities and challenging behaviour. You will also have opportunity to gain experience in our highly regarded specialist dementia service. The role will particularly benefit individuals looking to significantly enhance their experience through working in a well-established and respected service.  The Division is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and the Brain Injury Pathway has Headway UK ‘Approved Provider’ status.

The successful applicant will work with an established team led by a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, and containing Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, graduate volunteers and placement students. You will also be a key member of ward-based MDTs and work alongside our highly regarded colleagues from the Therapies, Nursing and Psychiatry disciplines.  The service has a long history of highly specialist neurobehavioural rehabilitation and is developing its approach further to incorporate RAID© and patient focused positive behaviour support.

We offer competitive salaries and conditions of service that include opportunities for research, teaching and continuing professional development.

Rewards:

We offer an excellent benefits package including sickness policy on par with NHS, 38 days holiday per annum, car lease scheme, free parking, cycle to work scheme and opportunities for teaching and continuing professional development.

For informal enquiries or to arrange a visit please contact Dr Keith G Jenkins, Lead Psychologist, on 01604 616459 or alternatively email: kjenkins@standrew.co.uk or James Farrelly, Senior Recruiter on 01604 616624 or jcfarrelly@standrew.co.uk
