Job Description

Location: London, Sheffield, Yorkshire and the Humber

Salary: £28,895 - £33,229 (National) - £32,867 - £37,797 (London)

Contract: 21 months

Hours: 37.5 per week

A unique opportunity for an innovative psychologist to play a key role contributing to one of the most important and high-profile public inquiries ever established.

The role of the Independent Inquiry Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) is to identify, understand and learn from the institutional failings that allowed child sexual abuse to happen in the past, and to make robust recommendations to prevent that abuse from happening in the future.

As the Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, you will have a direct impact on the Inquiry’s engagement with victims and survivors of child sexual abuse. By giving advice and guidance to support staff and Inquiry Offices, you will enable a trauma-informed approach to be taken at every stage of the process for victims and survivors.

This will include:

  • Providing expert psychological advice and consultation to teams across the Inquiry
  • Case consultation, working with multiple stakeholders, including external support suppliers and legal teams
  • Contributing to the Truth Project’s Diverse Communities strategy
  • Providing advice and guidance on safeguarding issues
  • Contributing to the oversight and evaluation of the emotional support provided to victims and survivors

The role is consultative with little direct client contact. It would suit a clinician who wishes to expand their professional experience and consolidate consultation skills, enjoys a fast paced work environment and has experience of working with survivors of child sexual abuse.

The team is split between London and Sheffield and the post is available to be based at either of these locations. Please note that the role will involve travel between these bases, approximately once per month, with occasional trips to other locations around England and Wales.
