Forensic / Clinical Psychologist – CAMHS
Band SM1 ( NHS 8a)
Salary: Upwards of £41,098 depending on experience & excellent benefits
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week
An opportunity has opened up to work in the CAMHS Integrated Practice Unit (IPU) part of the largest adolescent inpatient service in Europe.
The CAMHS IPU includes three acute admission units, and two treatment and recovery units, supporting young men and women with a range of complex difficulties and co-morbidities including mental illness, developmental trauma and neuro-developmental diagnoses in a low secure setting.
This is a highly specialised service, accepting challenging patients from across the country that have not made sufficient progress in other services. We offer a range of rare and highly specialist interventions, therapies and access to allied health professionals including a full DBT programme, sensory integration therapy, offence specific therapies, in-house physiotherapy, dieticians and speech & language therapy.

The brand new facilities encourage in- house opportunities that other services do not provide, including a purpose built and modern adolescent friendly environment that is able to conform to both low and medium standards. Facilities include; gyms (cardio and weights) sports hall, horticulture & animal care area, music studio, spirituality room, tranquillity courtyard, café , social area, child friendly visiting suites and state of the art technological solutions to remote conferencing.
We are looking for an innovative Clinical or Forensic psychologist to join our large and well established psychology team which includes forensic and clinical psychologists supported by assistants and trainees.
You will undertake complex assessment and interventions including family work, influenced by a range of theoretical approaches. There will also be the expectation that the post holder will provide psychological consultation to the team and be involved in delivering reflective practice and staff support.
St Andrews has strong ties to a number of academic institutions and there is the potential to deliver teaching and training within and outside of St Andrew’s including involvement with research. There are multiple opportunities for continuing professional development which includes training in specialised assessment and treatment methods as well as individual and group supervision.
You will be HCPC registered with ideally 2 years post qualification experience working with adolescents.
As the psychology service is dedicated to developing the profession, you will be expected to attend a leadership programme to develop yourself and others to their full potential.
