Salary: up to £55,000 (Depending on Experience)

Contract: Permanent – Full Time (flexible hours/working arrangements could be considered)

We are currently recruiting a Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Coventry.

Cygnet Hospital Coventry offers specialist inpatient services for women across three wards, with step down facilities also forming part of the care pathway. Services include a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU), a highly specialised personality disorder service, and a high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service. In addition the hospital also includes St Mary’s Court, seven studio apartments that offer the opportunity to safely test out independent living skills prior to service users moving back into the community.

The Opportunity…

The post-holder will work closely with the Head of Psychology and have a key role in providing specialist psychological assessments, interpretation from psychological tests, semi-structured interviews, individual and group therapy to a range of clients on the personality disorder service. In addition to leading the DBT service, you will also consider potential risks and social needs of the client group, relevant to their diagnosis.

This role will be working as part of an established interdisciplinary team comprising of; a Consultant Psychiatrist, a Specialty Doctor, an Occupational Therapist, a Social Worker, Nurses and Health Care Support Workers. You will be expected to offer psychological insight and knowledge around the clinical area and provide consultation about the psychological care of the client group to staff, families and other agencies.

As a HCPC Registered Psychologist, you will have a pivotal role in the training and clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Volunteers and Psychology Trainees/Students on site. You will also have involvement in audit, policy, service development along with the assessment and interpretation of outcomes.

You will have…


  • A Doctorate Level Qualification (or equivalent) in Clinical or Forensic Psychology along with HCPC Registration 
  • Experience with an adult mental health client group
  • Experience within mental health and knowledge of psychological assessment, treatment and therapies
  • Experience of delivering DBT therapy and a range of other treatment models
  • The ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team


  • Training and supervision experience is desirable

Contracted hours: 37.5, Monday to Friday.

Please note: successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
