You will join one of the largest specialist mental health sites in the UK and join a team of over 20 other Consultant Psychologists and 50 other registered Psychologists based across our 3 sites (Northampton, Birmingham and Essex) and Community Partnership division. So, there will be lots of support for someone early in their Consultant career but great opportunities for experienced Consultants to progress in the future too.

The Northampton site also has services that includes; Low Secure and Specialist Rehabilitation (including 2 PICUs), Learning Disability, Autism Neuropsychiatry, Medium Secure, Forensics, and CAMHS as well as our academic and research centre so great opportunities to broaden and develop your skills in the future too. It also has facilities such as a café, garden centre, charity shop, woodwork & ceramics workshop all staffed by patients and service users along with other facilities such as gyms and swimming pools for patients and staff to use and all based in over 150 acres of beautiful grounds (please see link below for more details).

We would like to recruit a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who has:
- Extensive experience in working with people with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder
- Experience delivering Dialectical Behaviour Therapy within an inpatient setting.
- HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist
- Desire to further develop to become an accredited DBT therapist with the Society for DBT (if not already).
- Desire to apply your skills and expertise by providing clinical and risk assessments for our patients, collaboratively develop formulations, plan and sequence psychological interventions and consult with the wider clinical team to enable patients to progress to the least restrictive environments.
- Experience leading a small team of qualified psychologists.
- Experience supporting strategic development of DBT Services.
As a result of changes within our services a post has arisen for a Consultant Clinical Psychologist to work within the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy team for women with difficulties that benefit from this evidence-based intervention. The successful applicant will be joining a well-established psychology department which offers professional support and a wide range of expertise. In addition, the DBT team includes nurses, psychiatrists, occupational therapists and social workers who deliver DBT as therapists.
Psychology is highly valued within the service and is embedded within a multi-disciplinary approach. We are seeking keen team players who adopt a person-centred approach to care, and a recovery focus towards rehabilitation practices aiming to optimise each individual’s progress through treatment.
We will provide training and supervision including progress for accreditation in DBT.
You will be able to access excellent opportunities for continuing professional development including engagement with our academic centre and research teams; attendance at our weekly CPD events that are delivered by a range of internal and external experts in their field; and will join a large network of experienced clinicians working across our inpatient and community services.
