Job Description

Concordia University of Edmonton was born to be different.

Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) is a university that values its history and traditions, knowing that it provides a solid foundation to all its students for the future. For nearly a century, Concordia University of Edmonton has been part of a growing Edmonton and an important educational institution in the province of Alberta. It is now recognized globally as a university committed to academic excellence in teaching and research, welcoming over 2,000 students annually from across Canada and from over 40 countries around the world. Today, the University offers over 45 majors and minors in the fields of Arts, Science and Management, along with After-Degree programs (in Education and Environmental Health), Master's degrees and a suite of Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas in high demand areas.

Concordia University of Edmonton has an exciting new faculty position to build and lead a new Clinical Psychology program with prime clinic space in the new Allan Wachowich Center for Science and Research Innovation. Reporting to the Dean of Arts, the Director, Clinical Psychology, will initially work with the Psychology Department, CUE’s administration, and the Government of Alberta (Advanced Education), to finalize and secure the PsyD program approval. Upon receiving final approval, the Director’s role will involve responsibilities for PsyD course development, research training, comprehensive examinations, dissertation supervision, and teaching. CUE will seek full Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accreditation for the program. The Director will also work in consultation with the PsyD program Advisory Council that includes internal and external members who will support the Director’s work.

As the ideal candidate, you have a PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA-accredited program or equivalent and University-level teaching experience in a clinical program, with more than five years of experience preferred; clinical supervision experience in assessment and intervention; and a demonstrated record of a strong research program, through scholarly publication, grant funding, and supervision of graduate students. You are in possession of, or eligible for, full registration as a Psychologist, in good standing, in a Canadian province or territory.

This is an exciting growth opportunity for the successful candidate to make a significant contribution to our diverse students, the Department of Psychology, the community of applied psychologists in Edmonton and Alberta, and the broader community.

The University will provide support in its recruitment processes to applicants with disabilities, including accommodation that takes into account an applicant’s accessibility needs. If you require accommodation because of a disability or for any other reason during the interview process, please contact KBRS.
