Are you a qualified Educational or Clinical Psychologist? Join us and help change young lives for the better, at our outstanding schools and homes.
At Witherslack Group, we’re committed to helping children and young people with complex, challenging needs. Across our independent schools and homes, we offer expert care and first-rate facilities, all designed to support and speed the development of our young people. As a Psychologist, you’ll play a big part in our work and our outcomes for young people. It’s a highly rewarding role where your skills can make a huge difference – as you help us create brighter futures.
The role
As part of our dedicated team, you’ll provide specialist psychological support for our pupils and residents. The first step is to carry out expert assessments, using information from a variety of sources and assessment tools. You’ll then create plans for specialist psychological interventions. This may be for an individual, group, care staff or families. Using evidence-based practice, it is up to you to decide what is appropriate and will deliver the best results. Key will be working as part of the team around the child and enabling positive outcomes. That means developing programs with the team and families and reporting to placing authorities social services. So you’ll need to be empathetic – but also resilient when dealing with young people who may at times exhibit very challenging behavior.
There is also a strong internal component to this role. You’ll be using your experience to support and develop the skills of the wider team, including our Assistant Psychologists and our Support Workers. In addition you’ll provide training wherever required and will develop Witherslack Group policies.
Your profile
HCPC-registered, you have a degree (or equivalent) in Psychology. You’re eligible for graduate BPS membership and have a recognised qualification in Educational or Clinical Psychology. With this background, you’ll know how to perform high quality psychological assessments. To be considered, you must have worked with children with SEMH and/or ASD needs before. It’s vital you understand the challenges and share the Witherslack ethos of offering the very highest standards of care. It’s also important that you’re articulate and a great team worker, with strong communication skills and an organised approach.
Rewards
We know you’re going to do great things. We offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You’ll receive a competitive salary, full school holidays, contributory pension (matched up to 5%) and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, Kia preferential Affinity Scheme, Merlin Entertainment discounts, Cycle to Work and tax-free childcare vouchers.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Marianne Taylor, Principal Psychologist on 07786624096 or Simon Jenner, Associate Director, Clinical Services on 07887 456403.
The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
