The Positive Families Partnership is an innovative, new 3-year programme providing Functional Family Therapy (FFT) and Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) to families in 5 London boroughs. The partnership is made up of an exciting consortium of different organisations:
- Family Action, a national charity who will be delivering MST in Newham, Tower Hamlets and Bexley.
- South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust, who will be delivering MST in Merton and Sutton
- Family Psychology Mutual a new social enterprise (spun out of a Local Authority) based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire who will be delivering FFT across the five Boroughs.
- Social Finance Ltd and Bridges Fund Management Ltd are the social investment investors in the consortium.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop Functional Family Therapy in the UK and to work with an ambitious collaboration of partners. It is anticipated that further growth and development will take place across London once the project is established.
Family Psychology Mutual is a staff owned social enterprise. Your contribution to the development and participation in how we work as a company is both welcomed and valued as we grow and expand our portfolio of evidence based interventions.
The role Job Purpose:
The Functional Family Therapist role is to provide home-based family therapy sessions with young people and their families using the Functional Family Therapy intervention model. Referrals will be made by the participating Boroughs and will largely be for families with young people between the ages of 11 and 18 at risk of care or custody because of complex behavioural problems.
Therapists will be required to carry a caseload of 8 to 10 families, providing services in their home or community from 8 to up to 26 weeks. Therapists will be trained, coached and supervised in accordance with the FFT model by the national FFT Consultant. This post offers considerable practice development opportunities. FFT is a licenced intervention and the adherence to the model is quality assured (www.fftllc.com). This position requires out of hours and flexible working to meet families when they are available. Appreciation of the local demography and culture will be valuable.
The FFT team will be located partly in Merton CAMH offices and in a Family Action building in Hackney Wick alongside a MST team in each location. The post involves sessions carried out in the client’s home environments. The work hours can be varied with the expectation of some late evening session. The post holder will be travelling in their allocated Boroughs for clinical work. The team will regularly come together for supervision, business and professional meetings.
