Job Description

Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse, Family Therapist, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist (£36,992 - £55,562 FPM scale includes outer London weighting)

Family Psychology Mutual has been funded by the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) to trial Functional Family Therapy (Gangs) in collaboration with the London Borough of Redbridge. This will be the first team to be established outside of the USA. Successful projects may receive further funding beyond the initial grant period offered by the YEF, depending on the evaluation outcomes or become locally funded.

Experienced, suitably qualified and motivated staff are required for our new Functional Family Therapy (Gangs) team to work with us in Redbridge. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver an evidence-based intervention, working with the FFT developers and Family Psychology Mutual, a staff owned company. You will be working with young people at risk of gang involvement and exploitation, usually aged 10-14. The team will be embedded with the Redbridge Family Intervention Team (FIT) where we anticipate close interagency collaboration, joint working and the use of shared systems. This is an opportunity to work with a leading authority and a staff-led provider company developing new ways of intervening to protect and support young people and their families with complex needs and challenges. The work will largely take place in young people’s homes and so the roles will require considerable flexibility of approach and the careful management of risks.

You may already have systemic experience or training but will be trained in the FFT G clinical model and supported through clinical consultation and a defined training plan. There will be opportunities to learn from our existing FFT sites in London, Norfolk and Suffolk. You will be highly orientated towards partnership working and alert to the risks and contextual safeguarding issues which gang involvement poses. The project will be subject to an independent evaluation led by Greenwich University

This is an exciting opportunity to develop experience of a clinical adaptation and to use systemic skills to create and sustain change for young people and their families. You will have a clear desire to work in partnership with statutory and non-statutory agencies. Your commitment to young people will be clear as you strive for engagement with some of London’s harder to reach young people.

We are seeking a third post holder to join our new team for FFT Gangs in Redbridge.  Two FFT worker have already been recruited and at 12 months, one of the team will be trained as a Supervisor through the FFT externship training programme and will assume supervisory responsibilities. In the initial 12 month period the team will be managed by an experienced Team Leader and additionally supported by senior FPM staff. FPM has an expanding portfolio of work and we consider that there are opportunities for further services to be developed in the future.

You must be available for training for two days week of 27th Jan and clinical training 5-7th February

Closing date 28th November
