You’ll understand people’s complexities, and protect the nation from the inside out.
At GCHQ, we work closely with MI5 and MI6, our partners in the intelligence community, to keep the nation safe. We work against unique, complex threats – everything from cyber attacks and espionage, to terrorism and organised crime. The work is challenging, and unlike anything you could find anywhere else. We’re now looking for an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist to lead our Corporate Psychology department.
In this role, everything you do will support our ability to protect the country. You’ll make sure everyone at GCHQ can perform their roles to the best of their abilities. And you’ll ensure that everyone is suitable for high-level security clearance. You’ll do this by working with our vetting officers and, potentially, establishing an occupational psychology function.
Leading a team of professionals, you’ll evaluate vulnerability, resilience and risks. Not only that, you’ll lead assessments of individual cases, train our officers and undertake reviews. It’s about identifying gaps in the service, and determining best- practice. And keen to ensure the quality of assessments, you’ll introduce supervisory structures and tailored development.
Having worked at a Consultant grade within the NHS (or equivalent), you’ll have a background in developing new services, managing psychologists and representing your profession. With a breadth of clinical experience with adults, you’ll confidently consult and translate psychological issues with all of your colleagues. Ideally, you’ll have forensic and organisational experience. But, more importantly, you’ll collaborate across the business and inspire everyone you meet.
