Salary:£67,061 - £70,850 plus £4,000 Isle of Wight allowance. 

(Soulbury Senior Salary Scale B15-18+2. This post is also eligible for SPA points and up to two previously awarded SPA points will be honoured)

Work Location: Elizabeth II Court, Winchester, currently working from home. This role will entail some countywide travel.

This is an unmissable opportunity to lead and manage a thriving, creative and well-respected Educational Psychology service. 

We are looking to appoint an experienced leader of our Educational Psychology service which operates across Hampshire and the Ilse of Wight. The successful candidate will bring a vision and understanding of how to manage a sustainable service which makes a difference for our most vulnerable children.

The successful applicant will build upon our strong local and national reputation and benefit from excellent partnership working across health, education, and social care services so that EPs work across the whole system for children.

The service consists of a core statutory service that is funded by the Local Authority and a traded service for schools, FE colleges, social care and Hampshire’s workforce development team.

We have well established links with the University of Southampton and contribute to the initial training programme and providing trainee placements each year. Our EPs enjoy job satisfaction through a rewarding range of work with a strong commitment to applied psychology. The Principal Educational Psychologist is well supported by a dynamic leadership team, a business support manager, and facilitative line management.

The opportunity that awaits your application is to lead and manage Hampshire and Isle of Wight Educational Psychology (HIEP), to build on our strengths and to take educational psychology practice forward to the benefit of local communities. Of critical importance will be aligning the work of the service to the SEN service so that statutory duties are met and enable to service to work in a way that supports early intervention.

The main accountabilities of this post will be to:

  • Provide professional and strategic leadership in conjunction with HIEP leadership team;

  • Ensure strong alignment and work in partnership with other support services for the priorities of Children’s Services;

  • Promote business development;

  • Offer professional expertise to elected members, senior officers, governing bodies, schools and other service providers;

  • Manage budgets and resources;

  • Ensure a psychological contribution to improving wellbeing and attainment by working with school improvement partners:

  • Ensure a psychological contribution to improving the life chances of looked after children through working with social care partners

  • Oversee service delivery to children and young people from birth to 25;

  • Ensure effective communication about the work of HIEP;

  • Ensure that there is an effective professional development programme.
