An opportunity exists to join the Human Science Assessment Team within Cyber Assessment, Defence Intelligence in the Ministry of Defence.

This post is responsible for the provision of subject matter assessment derived from human and social science expertise and deliver assessment and reporting in support of the National Cyber programme and other areas that are of high interest to the UK's Defence and Security priorities.

The post provides policy and decision-makers within the MoD and other government departments with a deep understanding of internal MOD and national cyber enterprise responsibilities in support of a wide range of activity including current operations, contingency planning and policy formulation. Outputs include written analytical assessments, oral briefs to seniors and responding to quick turnaround ‘Requests for Information’.

The post holder would be expected to employ good analytical, drafting and presentation skills in order to communicate judgments.

The Cyber assessment team has a global remit and focuses on Defence’s highest priorities. The post holder will be assigned to a particular geographic or thematic area within these priorities but would need to be willing to refocus if priorities change.

The post holder will be required to work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders and customers including technical Subject Matter experts from across MoD, cyber practitioners within MoD and other government departments as well as other allies. They will also contribute to the continuing development of Human Sciences ethical methodologies and capability development.

Person specification

- Post-graduate BPS accredited degree in a human science, preferably Psychology or Social sciences.

- A minimum of 4-5 years applying this preferably in a government or academic setting.

- Ability to produce qualitative analysis, synthesize complex issues and make judgements with incomplete information
