Alternative part time work experience opportunity for psychology grad students:
Disabled person with severe dissociative identity disorder. A wheelchair user with complex physical and mental health conditions. Would involve working in their home and enabling them to be in the community. To help reduce trauma and help them stay in the present moment. Their interests vary, from crafts, art, architecture, disability activism, to jewellery making. They identify as gender neutral and you must be LGBTQ friendly. They have a care package from local authority.
As well as personal care they will need support in dealing with flashbacks and triggers, you will be working with different identities who experience the body and disabilities in different ways. Monthly 90 minute sessions with a MBACP accredited and HCPC registered Psychotherapist will be provided. This is a combination of supervision, psychoeducation, consultancy and emotional support.
