Salary: £52,306 - £60,983 plus HCA pa
Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

Mental health services
We provide a wide range of treatment and support to young people, adults and older people experiencing mental illness both as inpatients and within the community. This includes treatment in secure and specialised settings.
Community health services
Our diverse range of community health services provide support and treatment to both adults and children. We deliver this care in community hospitals, health centres, GP surgeries and in people’s homes.
Learning disabilities services
We provide crisis support and inpatient services and our community learning disability teams work in partnership with local councils to provide assessment and support for adults with learning disabilities.
We provide personalised social care support to people with a range of needs, including people with learning disabilities or mental illness, supporting people to live independently.

We are looking for a Principal Clinical, Counselling, Forensic Psychologist to be part of a ground-breaking new team, improving the lives of forensic mental health service users.
EPUT has been chosen by NHS England to pioneer a new approach to support forensic service users in the community instead of in secure hospitals to improve quality of life, reduce inequality, and give hope to people who may have been detained for many years. It also saves significant expenditure on hospital care, which can be reinvested into community services. The new team will work to transition service users out of secure settings, and support their ongoing recovery in the community.
This role is a rare chance to be part of shaping a new service, providing opportunities to develop your skills and your career.
The team will cover the geographical footprint of the county of Essex which will include the unitary authorities of Southend on Sea and Thurrock. EPUT currently provides in-patient forensic mental health service within this area with 117 beds across two sites, Brockfield House in Wickford and Edward House in Chelmsford.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Post graduate level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical or forensic fields of psychology
- HCPC registered, and eligible for registration with a professional clinical body (BPS).
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for client’s psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified psychologist and also within the context of multidisciplinary care plan

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum of £1,017 and a maximum of £1,762 per annum).
