The School of Psychology is seeking to appoint a continuing full-time Professor or Associate Professor in Psychology who would also be appointed as Chair of the School of Psychology for a three year period. The appointee will contribute to undergraduate teaching and post graduate programmes in Psychology and the academic leadership of the School as a whole.
The School of Psychology is currently in a rebuilding phase. The School offers a broad undergraduate education in Psychology, with a range of specialised programmes at graduate level, including Masters and PhD degrees and several programmes that lead to registration as a professional psychologist.
Applications are invited from people with expertise in any areas of Psychology relevant to the programmes offered by the School. Responsibilities will include maintaining a productive and active research programme, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate papers (courses), supervising postgraduate student research, and providing academic leadership to the School of Psychology.
Requirements include a research-based PhD in Psychology, experience in undergraduate teaching and graduate supervision, and a strong research record of sustained excellence at a national and international level commensurate with appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor.
The current salary range for Professors is NZ$137,563 upwards and Associate Professors is NZ$122,280 to $135,018 per year dependent on qualifications and experience. Note - the rank of Associate Professor in the New Zealand university system is equivalent to the rank of Professor in the North American and some other systems.
