A career in the Psychological Assessment & Therapy Service on Jersey makes for a very refreshing change. With an exceptional work/life balance and stunning surroundings at every turn, our people enjoy a level of career satisfaction that’s hard to imagine elsewhere. The States of Jersey Health & Social Services Department is independent – we’re not part of the NHS, so we’re free to do things differently. We strive to offer a seamless integrated service, putting the patient at the heart of everything we do. And in the process, we encourage our staff to spend more time doing the job they love.

Joining Jersey Talking Therapies, you’ll be part of a team of psychological wellbeing practitioners, psychological therapists, counsellors and psychologists. They all share your passion for helping people with anxiety and depression to achieve a level of recovery which improves their overall wellbeing and daily life.

As a Psychological Therapist, you will work with patients who have a range of psychological difficulties of medium complexity. They will rely on you to offer appropriate, effective therapy - from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to cognitive analytical therapy (CAT) and more, including brief interventions in alcohol. An exceptional communicator, you will work with each patient to develop a clear understanding of their needs, and to formulate, implement and evaluate a suitable therapy programme. Colleagues across Health & Social Services may also rely on your specialist advice around therapeutic modalities and service provision.

To join us you will need a recorded or registered qualification in clinical or counselling psychology, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, art therapy or psychotherapy, together with a further postgraduate qualification in a psychological therapy. Proven experience of working with adults who have mental health issues is essential. We’ll also expect you to demonstrate an understanding of alcohol use disorders. What really sets you apart is your ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients, and strong working relationships with colleagues.

Our people mean so much to us. With support from day one, you’ll have everything you need to make a successful move. We’ll provide you with a generous relocation package (£8,000), support with a deposit and first month’s rent through our Deposit Advance Scheme. That’s just the start of your journey. You’ll benefit from continual training and development opportunities and the freedom to really rediscover why you love what you do, and who you are. On Jersey, you can change many lives - including your own.
