We are excited to be recruiting three new HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologists to our growing Psychology and Psychological Therapies team working with people with dementia and older people. You will work alongside a team including our Lead Clinical Psychologist who was awarded Educator of the Year in the Trust Care Awards 2018 and we are expecting that Professor Ken Laidlaw will also begin working with us in 2019. We feel we have a lot to offer candidates with the potential to make a positive contribution, and can be flexible in negotiating a job role that will meet your needs as well as the needs of the service. This can include discussing the potential to gain accreditation in a specific modality and to develop your own particular interests.
At this time, we are looking for:
- Two psychologists to be embedded in community MDTs for older people and people with a diagnosis of dementia. We currently provide a neuropsychological assessment service which is greatly appreciated by referrers, and we will shortly be piloting a psychology and psychological therapies service which we plan to roll out across the Trust with your help!
- One psychologist to be based on Garner Ward, Bodmin Hospital; our assessment and treatment unit for people with a diagnosis of dementia. The friendly ward MDT was awarded Trust Team of the Year 2017 and we presented the findings of our inpatient psychology service evaluation at the BPS FPOP annual national conference this year.
We are committed to professional development and self-care. We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology training course at Plymouth University, contributing to the Older Adult teaching programme and having Trainees on placement. We are building links with the University of Exeter, and expect to take their new Clinical Associate Psychologists on placement next year. We have developed a Trust wide Psychology Intern programme, offering yearlong placements to undergraduate students nationwide. Besides becoming a member of the CC&D psychology team, you will be encouraged to make links with Clinical Psychologists working in services across the Trust e.g. through attending Clinical Psychology professionals’ meetings. You will also be encouraged to maintain a healthy work-life balance!
Cornwall is a beautiful and picturesque county which offers an outstanding quality of life and provides many opportunities for outdoor activities, with its sailing waters, surfing beaches and rugged coastal pathways for walking, running and cycling. There is a thriving arts and theatre scene as well as an interesting variety of eating places, including nationally renowned restaurants. The major route in and out of the county is the recently improved A30 which connects with the M5 motorway at Exeter. The rail service has daily passenger and sleeper services and there are airports at Newquay and Exeter with daily connections to many cities throughout the UK and abroad.
We are looking for highly motivated people with excellent interpersonal and workload management skills and a genuine passion for working with our client group. If you would like to contribute to the development of a supportive psychological therapies team committed to providing high quality, fair, and consistent services, we would love to hear from you!
We welcome applications from psychologists qualifying in October 2019 as well as those with post-qualification experience. Calls and visits are very much welcomed and encouraged.
These are full time posts, part-time/job share can be considered.
Interview expenses will be payable for this post and relocation expenses packages up to £3k available for successful applicants.
