The Principal Adviser - Special Treatment Unit (STU) Development provides advice on best practice within Special Treatment Units and strategic advice to the Manager High Intensity Psychology Programmes. As the Principal Adviser you will be accountable for identifying, developing and recommending STU models, programmes and initiatives based on professional and international trends and research to ensure that treatment provision within STU’s remains at the forefront of professional practice.
In this role you will be supporting the Manager High Intensity Psychology Programmes to lead strategy development relating to STUs, researching international trends in the approach to and treatment in the criminal justice psychologist area, and make recommendations for improvements to programme provision within STUs.
To be successful in this position you will need:
- Knowledge of psychological theory and practise as it relates to a criminal justice corrections setting
- Several years experience working as a registered psychologist in NZ Corrections
- Preference for some of that experience to have been undertaken in a Special Treatment Unit setting
- Demonstrated research and programme development skills
Applicants must be a Registered Psychologist, or have the ability to register with the New Zealand Psychologist Board.
