The Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences and the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics at Cardiff University School of Medicine seek to appoint a Research Assistant for 3 years to work on a Medical Research Council funded grant ‘Early-onset depression: characterising development and identifying risks.’ This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary research team investigating the causes of major depression. 

The successful applicant will work within the child and adolescent/developmental disorders research group at the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics, Cardiff University. The post-holder will be based at Cardiff (supervised by Dr Frances Rice) and also work with colleagues at the University of Bristol and University College London. The successful candidate will be required to travel across England and Wales to conduct research interviews.  A full driving licence and/or access to your own travel arrangements is essential.

The successful candidate will conduct research interviews with individuals at increased familial risk of depression (the Early Prediction of Adolescent Depression; EPAD sample) and their families, carry out statistical analysis of longitudinal data and undertake administrative and research tasks to support the successful completion of the project.  A degree (2.1 or above) in Psychology or related subject is essential.  Knowledge of developmental psychopathology/child and adolescent mental health is required. 

This post is full time (35 hours per week), available immediately and is fixed term for 3 years.

Salary: £26,495 - £30,688 per annum (Grade 5). Please note that it is anticipated the maximum starting salary for this post will be £26,495 per annum.
