You will join a highly regarded clinical service, leading on therapeutic interventions to children, young people and their families and providing consultation and clinical expertise to professionals. This post is linked to the Youth Offending Team, Prevention and Diversion and Young People’s Substance Misuse Service.

As a Specialist Clinical Practitioner, you will join a highly specialist and integrated clinical service.  This is an in-house CAMHS, which delivers high quality and effective clinical assessments and interventions to children, young people and their families as well as consultation and training to social care staff, youth workers and foster carers.

Clinicians within our service represent a range of disciplines, including Clinical Psychology, Systemic Psychotherapy, Forensic Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Child Psychotherapy.  They deliver high quality assessments and multi-modal, evidence-based interventions to children who have a range of complex needs in relation to their emotional health and wellbeing.  Clinicians also provide assessments within the Public Law Outline and for the Youth Courts. Training provided by our Clinicians includes AFT-accredited postgraduate systemic training, as well as training for foster carers and consultation to professionals from a range of disciplines.

You will also have the opportunity to be part of innovative service developments, such as the development of Contextual Safeguarding practice to address peer risk issues, and implementation of the Good Lives Model.

Hackney’s clinical service is well-established and has a strong learning culture as well as ongoing ties to local and national partners in developing best practice. There are opportunities for all Clinicians to work across Children’s Social Care, Youth Justice, Young Hackney and Family Support Services, whilst maintaining a base and building close working relationships within a specific area within Children and Families Services. Clinicians deliver evidence-based assessments to children and their families in their homes, placements and other community settings. This includes individual, family and group work. Clinical supervision and line management is provided within the service in line with professional governance requirements. Specialist supervision is available for therapeutic approaches including VIG, the Parent Child Game, Theraplay and DDP.

Dynamic, innovative, committed and passionate, you’ll bring a comprehensive knowledge and skill-base to the challenge of working with vulnerable children and families.

Candidates must hold a UK recognised psychology or psychotherapy qualification, with a minimum of one year post-qualifying experience in delivering specialist therapies to children and families from a range of backgrounds. Skills and experience in working with young people where offending and/or substance misuse are presenting concerns would be desirable in this post. You will be required to demonstrate continuing professional development including advanced post-qualification training in relevant areas and have current UK professional registration with the relevant body.

An enhanced DBS check is required.
