South West London & St. George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) provides mental health services at primary, secondary and tertiary levels to the residents of Sutton, Merton, Kingston, Richmond and Wandsworth.

Sutton Uplift is a primary mental health service, which incorporates a Wellbeing Service, the Sutton Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service, an Assessment Team and a Primary Care Recovery and Support Team.

The post holder will work clinically within the IAPT service which delivers a range of evidence-based psychological interventions (e.g., CBT, IPT, DIT) to people with common mental health problems (i.e., depression, anxiety disorders and eating disorders) within a stepped-care model. Sutton IAPT is professionally managed by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and operationally managed by the Uplift Service Manager. The IAPT team includes Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, IAPT High Intensity Practitioners, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, and Graduate Mental Health Workers who provide evidence-based psychological interventions in line with NICE guidance.

We are looking for a Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist to join our IAPT team on a permanent basis. You will be providing evidence-based CBT psychological assessment and treatment to people aged 18 and over, presenting with anxiety, depression and eating disorders at Step 3. You may also be involved in supervision of Graduate Mental Health Workers and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. You will work clinically within primary care settings and be required to work flexible hours in line with GP surgery hours and the ‘Improving Access’ agenda. The post holder will be willing to work evening clinics including Fridays until 8pm, as well as occasional Saturday mornings (9am-1pm). You will receive regular clinical supervision from a Band 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist working within the service and have the opportunity to attend regular Trust-wide and in-house CBT training sessions.
