Play a pivotal role in the planning and delivery of mental health services on an island community.
A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. It’s now poised for transformation with the recent opening of a brand new international airport offering scheduled commercial air access. The island’s community mental health team is supported by resident medical officers with remote support and annual visits from a Europe-based Consultant Psychiatrist.
Your key objective will be to lead, manage and support the mental health team to deploy available resources and work collaboratively across relevant services to deliver a community focused, patient-oriented mental health service focused on prevention.
A fully registered mental health practitioner with team management and leadership experience, your significant post qualification experience includes managing service teams and resources. A significant background in service redesign, planning and implementing change, experience of working in a multicultural setting and the ability to influence across professional boundaries will be essential.
This role is open to all cadres of mental health professionals; we are particularly keen to hear from consultant nurses, community psychiatric nurses, mental health nurse prescribers and qualified approved mental health practitioners with experience of leading teams and managing community mental health services.
