Timeout Homes: Our Aims, Principles and Approach to Care

Timeout Children’s homes is a specialist therapeutic residential provision for children with multiple placement break-downs and attachment difficulties.  The organisation is committed to offering solo and dual placements to children requiring a high level of nurture and emotional containment, together with Attachment-based support, treatment and interventions.  Timeout constantly monitor each child’s capacity to make adaptations and demonstrate they are able to work with our Attachment based model.

We, in collaboration with partners, aim to meet the fundamental needs of the children placed with us.  Many of these needs will have been unmet at previous points and so may be particularly chronic, or challenging to address.

Some children may come to Timeout with a particularly entrenched sense of their own powerlessness so they may need more opportunities to develop their self-efficacy than others.  A large proportion of children come to Timeout with particular mental health and emotional difficulties for which they require the right, individualised support to resolve.

Our principles and approach to the care of the children have been developed from theory, research and practical experiences of what is most ethical and effective in helping vulnerable children and young people achieve wellbeing and thrive over the long-term.

The clinical team are fully engaged with the therapeutic carers as they work at the child’s pace, to deliver the best possible outcomes.  In addition, the clinical team promote a systemic approach whereby everyone involved in the children’s recovery have a strong understanding of the impact of abuse and neglect and it’s demonstration in current presentation.

Our vision is to provide outstanding care and treatment interventions in order to deliver Timeout’s Mission Statement:

An organisation can never be a true parent.  However it can apply the values and principles of good parenting.

Timeout will offer:

Salary – at Band 7 (£31,000 - £41,000, per annum, dependant on experience)

Holidays – 33 days (including bank holidays)

Additional Benefits –
•    Clear career progression
•    Health care plan (after 12 months of employment)
•    Childcare vouchers
