Murray Edwards College, Cambridge is seeking to appoint a Tutor for Student Development to lead, maintain and develop its study skills, personal and career development programmes among its undergraduate and postgraduate student body.
The person appointed will oversee and drive forward the College’s highly successful Gateway Programme as appropriate to the internal and external environments. This will involve coordination with academic collaborators, with other personal and career development professionals and with trainers best placed to run leadership and life skills programme components. The person appointed will also take responsibility for developing and running new initiatives in these areas within the College.
The role requires a high level of coordination and organisation, with internal and external providers, academic and professional institutions and the student body, thus organisational skills, attention to detail and enthusiasm for encouraging students within higher education to develop and fulfil their potential is a must. Finally, skilled collaboration skills with internal stakeholders such as the Senior Tutor, Admission Tutor and President, as well as Directors of Studies and Tutors within the College will be important.
Candidates should be qualified to degree level and have experience of design, development and delivery of educational, career and personal development programmes, ideally among students and young people and/or women. An understanding of graduate recruitment is also key, as is familiarity with the higher education sector and an understanding of the demands and opportunities facing students.
In addition to the required organisational and PC skills, this is a role for someone able to build strong networks through excellent communication skills, first and foremost with young people but also among College staff and Fellows.
Salary: £37,500-39,000pa FTE. Band 3 of the College Pay structure.
